Kings Highway Crime Updates
If you are aware of any suspicious or criminal activity in the neighborhood, please email this information to the webmaster for posting. Your input is vital to keeping our neighborhood a safer place to live.
- Week of August 4: There has been an increase in home burglaries in the area. The police say the M.O. for these thieves is to send a couple of guys into the house to get everything ready, and then a van will come down the alley to collect everything when they're done. It's really quick. They also case properties prior to making their move. Neighbors have reported seeing a white Honda and silver Mustang driving down alleys slowly. Be vigilant in calling the police if you feel something or someone is out of place.
- Week of September 15: There has been an increase in theft of metals in around homes in Kings Highway. Copper siding was stolen from a neighbor's home, and copper pipes were removed from an abandoned house. The city Code Department was contacted, as were the DPD. Remember to always be the eyes and ears of our neighborhood, and call the police if you feel something or someone is out of place.
- Week of September 22: A KCHD neighbor on Turner Street, whose house was burglarized, says the neighbors saw a older model burgundy colored car racing down the alley at about 4 pm that day. The passenger side door had a dent in it and the driver was an hispanic male. Another neighbor said he saw the same description man and car outside the house on 9/21 (Sunday) but thought he must be a friend so didn't call the police. In hindsight, he said it looked like the guy was casing the house. The intruder kicked in the front door, took electronics and a safe and left through the back door.
